Bereaved children should be protected from press intrusion

Many families report serious and persistent intrusion from reporters following a death. As part of the Coroner reform programme, the Ministry of Justice has published a discussion paper on ways of making the reporting of inquests more sensitive.

The discussion paper proposes amendments to the Press Code, a voluntary agreement which binds nespaper editors. Proposed amendments include a number of clauses which would provide greater protection for bereaved children.
